Guide Review
Suits a wide range of players.
At 10.3 ounces (strung), the Hammer 7.3 is at the lower end of the sensible weight spectrum. Just 3/8" head-heavy on a 27.25" frame, the racquet has a fairly light swing weight, but enough heft to deliver a solid thump on the ball. The 100-square-inch head is strung with 16 mains and 20 crosses, open enough to generate good spin and to bolster the power of a straight 22-mm beam that Wilson rates medium in flexibility. While limiting power, that flexibility contributes to the racquet's exceptional comfort. Hits have a sweet feel. For players with long, fast swings, who need maneuverability at the net, this racquet should score very well on every major criterion.
