Roland Garros 2009: Roger Completes His Career Grand Slam

Long before 2009, the majority of tennis historians had called Roger Federer the greatest tennis player of all time, but a significant body of opinion still held out for his winning the one clay-court major, Roland Garros. In 2009, Federer had the victory that had begun to seem increasingly unlikely with Rafael Nadal's growing dominance at the French Open. Roger had some crucial help from Robin Soderling, who stunned everyone with a brilliant performance that eliminated Nadal in the fourth round.
