As is true on all great power serves, Novak is meeting the ball at full extension. His strings have turned toward the net much more than they were an instant earlier, but he will still brush upward and across the back of the ball, creating a mix of topspin and sidespin. His forward lean contributes to his power, but he does not try to meet the ball so far forward that he will lose significant height for his point of contact.
