In this photo, Flavia demonstrates a high backhand volley. She has used the left hand to help prepare the racquet, but it has let go as her right goes forward. Keeping the racquet in the line of the ball's flight for as long as possible greatly simplifies the timing on a high volley; it also helps to ensure solid contact, as does watching the ball get hit.
