Point of Contact

point of contact(C)2005 Jeff Cooper licensed to About.com, Inc.
  • Point of contact out in front and above low point of backswing
  • The ball is rising at roughly a 45-degree angle: it has risen two feet while moving forward two feet. The steeper the angle of rise, the more difficult the timing. 45 degrees is relatively easy.
  • Front leg is pushing upward, rear foot sliding forward
  • Eyes locked on point of contact
