The Australian Open starts January 18. With the first major event of the 1999 tennis season about to get underway, this is a good time to test our abilities to predict who will be on top of tennis when 1999 concludes. Who do you predict will be the top five ATP and WTA players at the end of 1999?

I'll announce the best predictions at the end of the year. To be fair, all predictions must be submitted before 1/18/99, so that none have the advantage of knowing the Australian Open results.
