Ana Ivanovic Wins Roland Garros

In a tough, high-quality final at Roland Garros, Ana Ivanovic prevailed over Dinara Safina to win her first major title, 6-4, 6-3. Safina showed very few signs of nervousness in by far the biggest match of her career, and she continued to hit with power and strong topspin into the deep corners, forcing Ivanovic to show her much-improved defensive skills. Ivanovic's biggest advantage was her superior pace on the forehand, which is now one of the best in the women's game.
